This season isn’t giving me an extravagant amount of time to write, but it’s still a happy place for me. Thanks for journeying with me as I jot down little thoughts in between life’s busy moments.
So for the month of May…drumroll…this blog is all about perspective, and it comes to you from the mouth of our kids.
- It was stormy and windy outside. Our plant was blowing all over the place when our youngest looked out the window and said, “That plant is having fun!”
- Our family was in the car after a long meeting when our youngest asked, “Where are we going?” I replied, “We are going to eat.” Our 6 year old chimed in, “We haven’t been to McDonald’s in a long time.” To which I replied, “Well, we are going somewhere good today.” Our youngest, with hopes high, added, “McDonalds has salad.”
- “I don’t need broccoli. I’m already as strong as any boy can be.”
- Not long after Christmas, the boys took a bath and used the bath bombs they got in their stocking. I was surprised that our little one got out so quickly. When I questioned him about it he replied, “Mom, I was scared the bath was going to blow up and the apartment was going to blow up and everyone was going to die! It is called a bath BOMB!”
- “Can we have a movie night with popcorn since it’s a Friday night?” Me, “It’s Sunday afternoon.”
- “Actually, I’m never gonna take a bath because I got a hurt finger.”
- “My brother said I’m cheating, but I’m not cheating…I’m winning.”
- One night one of our sons couldn’t sleep. He came in our room and I said, “Come give me a hug. I was just thinking of you. How did you get so old? You’re gonna be 9 soon.” He replied, “You got old, too.”
- Our son broke out in a rash, and I was about to put him in a cool bath when he looked at me with the cutest and biggest smile ever. He pointed to his face and said, “You can call me tomato face.”
- We were sitting in church when they showed a video of some missionaries thanking the congregation for their partnership. One of the couples said, “Hi we are so and so, missionaries to Wales.” One of our sons looked up with bright eyes and, completely shocked, asked, “They are missionaries to whales?”
Perspective is a powerful thing. Let’s not get stuck simply seeing our own point of view. Rather, let’s ask Jesus to give us the correct perspective, coupled with wisdom, in every situation.
To all of my readers…Have a blessed and happy May!
PS
I’d love to hear your favorite quote.
