Greatness Recognized

I am in the midst of a crazy day. Up until this point, I’ve homeschooled our kids, replied to emails, worked on my computer, and did a little house work around the edges. The next part of my day will consist of working out, cooking dinner, doing a little more house work and putting kids to bed. But for this very short moment, I’m taking a pause. I’m sitting and thinking and praying and writing. (To be honest, I’ll probably edit and post this tonight when the kids are in bed).

Lately, I’ve been meditating on the greatness of God and just how small we are. Truly, we are nothing in comparison. And yet, so often, we think we are great. We fight and strive, sometimes with others and many times with our own emotions, but that benefits no one.

However, while we are really nothing of importance in ourselves, we are valued and seen by Almighty God. How miraculous is that? It’s because we are loved and cherished by our Creator and bought by the blood of Jesus.

Today I read Matthew 10:31 where Jesus said, “So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” The context is Jesus telling His disciples not to fear man, but rather God. He tells them, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of the Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.”

God sees us and we can rest in His care, come good times or bad.

So, to all of my readers, whatever fears or stresses you have brought into 2026, I want to encourage you today to remember that God is bigger! He sees you and He wants to carry you through your season. You are loved. You are held. You are valued.

May you walk in humble confidence, letting go of everything you are trying so desperately to hold onto. Is it hard? Absolutely. But with surrender comes great peace.

Happy February, everyone.
